Just after Memorial Day, THE Ford show of shows happens; the Carlisle Ford Nationals presented by Meguiar’s (June 3-5). This event hosts Ford lovers from across the country and more than 3,200 vehicles on the National Parts Depot Showfield. While there is no shortage of cars and people, another element of the fun are the displays, special themes, and guests.
Participants helped set a new Showfield record in 2021, as the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds came to life powered by 3,240 registered vehicles. With 2022’s plans coming into focus and the return of Canadian car enthusiasts, 3,300 registrations is a real possibility, as is the chance to break the all-time record for showcars at Carlisle which was set in 2003. That number, 3,298, was powered by a hungry group of young enthusiasts as part of the former Custom Compact Nationals.
But…what draws Ford lovers to Carlisle every June? There are various reasons why, but for the most part, the eclectic mix of vehicles, displays, and industry guests offer Ford lovers something unique at Carlisle that spotlights the Blue Oval family of brands; new and old. In fact, with some indoor auto events not happening during the first quarter of 2022, this year’s event may be the first opportunity guests have to see rides of any type, be they tried and true classics, or the latest production options from Ford.
Ford corporate returns in 2022 and with them comes a variety of walk-arounds, including ones focused on the Ice White Mach 1, Ice White Mach-E, Shelby GT500, Raptor, and something yet to be announced. Ford will also have a display dedicated to the electrification revolution showcasing not only the Mach-E but also the Shelby Mach-E GT. Shelby American is getting in the mix too, with a special Friday unveiling. More details will be available soon, but it’ll be a “can’t miss” opportunity for showgoers.
The Carlisle Ford Nationals also celebrate the history of the brand with special displays and guests. Planned displays for 2022 include the following:
Finally, the cars hit the streets of downtown Carlisle on Saturday night for the annual Ford Parade and Street Party. Historically, nearly 400 cars from the show itself roll into town for the community to check out. Restaurants offer a mix of dining options for everyone, while shops stay open later with the hopes of some added business from the out of town guests.
Further, these Fords don’t just park and shine, they rev and roll too! There are multiple activities that put the wheels in motion including a rolling exhaust contest, autocross ride-alongs, and the Real Street Shootout (autocross).
The Carlisle Ford Nationals is actively taking registrations for the Showfield, vendor registrations for the automotive flea market, and selling discounted spectator tickets in advance of the June 3-5 offering.
